Leeds Art Gallery
I have learned that work doesn't have to be overly complex to be valuable and nice- some of the fine art i saw framed i would class more as illustration
I discovered my favourite exhibition was the interactive one- space. you can walk around in this space with your socks and shoes off- a millennial pink room full of silvery nos cans, corrugated iron, batteries, unraveled cassette tape and fans blowing cool air. There was a soundtrack of a jungle-y theme with rainstorms and birds overhead, and flashing school-style strip lights. Lying on the ground in this exhibit, i could feel my own weight increase and my laziness grow, like being pulled slowly into the ground. i felt excited ! if that ain't art that makes you feel shit i don't know what is.Space.
I would like to make my work have this luxury special interactive inclusive quality, which might be a little tricky to do in two dimensional world. But i will give it ago! i think the most important thing when it comes to exhibiting art is space and light. It gotta be nice- to make you feel special looking at the art and make the art look extra glowy. Now i need to figure out a way to incorporate this into my own artwork. Space. composition? personal space? hmmm.
